I have taken NEC dvd burner to pieces.I have got two lasers diodes, some lens and dichros?Which laser do I need.Bigger one?Do I find katode and anode as usual semiconductor diode? What power can I expect form drive like that?70mW?
Lasers are still in some metal case. How to get them out>Seems they are glued.
Do I need anything from this drive except diodes?

All the answers to your questions are here.
Do a search for "harvesting LPC-815" for removing the heat sink.
As far as the diodes go, the one with 3 pins is the red=650nm
Search for "all diodes" for a chart of the polarity.
The other one is IR (throw it away or practice on it)
Make sure to read up on "drivers" you just can't hook it up to a battery.
Good luck.

Ok,I will do a search. Two diodes are with three pins:)
I did cut soft aluminium heat sink with pliers. It was not so difficult.I have two 3 pin diodes now.

Did one have a little piece of glass on the front of the heat sink?
If so ,that's the IR (the one you don't want) if not, search for LOC diode, and you will find some pictures of the right diode.
If you still can't figure it out, buy or build a driver, hook them up according to the pics on the "all diodes" thread by nikokapo
If you want to build your own driver, you can do it with about $4-6 in parts from Radioshack. Plans are here: It can be done - Laser driver

Thanks for info.Yes one of them had glass but when tryed to take diode out from heat sing broke it.It is good it was ir diode:)
Thanks again Greenmechanic.
