Is it safe to use AAA rechargeable batteries in a pointer? I am fed up with using standard batteries that don't last long enough and just figured out that my battery charger does actually take AAAs.

ya using recharge able batteries should be fine but u might wont to check the voltage they are putting out before u put them in
ecspiaclly if the charger is not meant for AAAbeaces they might act like capictors and be putting out a bit more than u might expect
but if u have a driver (of course) u shuold be fine :)

The charger does take AAAs, they just go in at a slight odd angle which is why I never knew it could charge them.

They will be used in my Viper and DIY red so that should be ok.

ya but wat kinda of diy red is it like a 16x because it might eat up thoos reachargeable batteries in like 5min
