Re: Dx 30 arrival and tidbits

Does it keep its brightness when you keep it on for a minute or two?

I have a dx20 here that fires up nicely, but dims after a minute or so, even when running of a lab power supply - it also warms a bit, so i guess its a thermal problem.

Re: Dx 30 arrival and tidbits

I'm not talking that slight though, its easily visible to the naked eye.

As for the power supply, i've experimented a bit with that. Minimum required to get a proper beam is around 2.4 volts, but i've had it run at 3.0 as well. Same problem with dimming after a minute or so. I build a little regulator myself as well, settable from 2 to 3 volts or so, output confirmed clean on a scope.

The laser itself suffered no (obvious) permanent ill effect, after cooling off for a bit its just a bright as it came out of its box.
