because the x-15 and the x-175 has the same pump diode, does that mean that they are running at the same power, but have differend crystle efficiencies or have the pump diodes running at different power levels? :-?

Re: question about the diode in the x series laser

I think its just more efficient crystals

Re: question about the diode in the x series laser

Agreed. Just the efficiency of cyrstals ;)

Re: question about the diode in the x series laser

Yup.Too bad though, an 175 running at lower power would equal a way more battery efficient x-15 with a way better duty cycle.

Re: question about the diode in the x series laser

so, in theory, the x-175 should run cooler than the x-15. . .

Re: question about the diode in the x series laser

I don't think it is a theory.
Lasers having more efficient cyrstals can run longer with the same batteries. If you think about the power output it works much cooler.
Does anyone know what produces the heat? Is it the NdYVO4 cyrstal or the IR diode?

Re: question about the diode in the x series laser

Both produce heat but the IR diode is going to be, by far, the main contributor.

Re: question about the diode in the x series laser

wow, so is there a way to nvm, i know that it would be way to hard to change the crystall, dumb question, but would it be possible to remove the crystals and have a way powerful ir laser?
