Hi, I recently bought a true DX30mW green laser and its pretty much dead ATM and is on RMA.

I saw a thread here on the Wicked Laser Core 5mW, would this be better/brighter than the DX30mW? I know DX's lasers don't always shine at what their rated mW is so should I buy a Core?

Its currently on sale for $35 which is $10 more than the DX30.

Thanks.

the DX true 30mW should be pretty close to 30mW, therefore a core is going to be dimmer. even if the DX is 20mW rather than the rated 30mW, it'll be a lot brighter than a core, so if all you want is a bright green laser, go for the DX one.

No offence but... LOL at that.
I know DX's lasers don't always shine at what their rated mW is
Thing is... *sniggers * if you get a True DX, that isn't so bad. INFINITELY more so for Wicked Lasers!!! Now they aint shining at their rating.

IF you get a good one from DX, it'll put out a lot more than any 5 mW. The one you had before was probably a total dud, not putting out more than 1 mw of light if any at all.

Many people that tested DX's that actually work found them not to be that far from rated power, sometimes even over. But it's still a gamble.

I don't have any sort of testing equipment but when I first got my DX30 it was very bright.. the beam as clear at night and the dot was pretty bright.. then all of a sudden it barely shined brighter than my $1 red walmart laser.

I guess i'll just RMA and play around with my DX30 until I buy an X105 or something then :)

Thanks guys.

Oh btw, I remember seeing on here about somebody saying that the true DX50 only outputs 20-30mW so.. thats not too close to their rated mW ;)

I was refering to the DX30s, it seems that the higher powered ones are further from rated power.. I would not expect a DX200 to be even close to the 200 mW figure.

my DX true 30 can slice thin dark plastic from 10 cm is that normal or over powered one? i was using 3.2v lithium on it.
