putting foil in battery caps

I'm sorry for asking so many questions, but some people on the forum have mentioned putting foil near the battery contact points. I know that this is supposed to fix lasers with electrical connectivity problems, but will it increase the output of a laser that is already working properly?

It shouldn't make the laser more powerful if it is already working fine, but it does fix that button connectivity issue.
