Pressing Diode Into AixiZ Module

Okay, I'm really, really upset - so any help would be appreciated.

I'm pressing this diode into the AixiZ module, the front end, and I did that by placing it in the front end, then putting the back end over it, and pushing them together with a clamp.

Then I gently pulled at the back end, and I cannot get it off. The red plastic part that was at the base of the diode pins is now stuck inside the back end of the AixiZ module, not allowing me to pull it off.

I sure hope that red thing wasn't important :(

What do I do now? I'm worried I've ruined everything at this point, and I'm seriously regretting this whole DIY business.

You should have removed the Red part off before
pressing your LD..
The Red part is only a plastic pin spacer and pulls
straight off of the Clean pins..

BTW... using the Back end of the Aixiz housing will
not seat your LD properly..
The LD MUST sit below the surface of the holder to
be seated properly... It would be wise to invest in
a LD press... they are sold by different members on
the Forum..

I find it amusing that at the 1st sign of a problem...
members want to give up...
If the Wright brothers did the same thing where would
aviation be today...

Hah, I'm certainly not giving up, just relatively distraught at my seeming ineptitude. I wish I knew I was supposed to take that red thing off. The red thing actually can't come off because there are these little saucer things on the end of the pins (that are now a little beaten up due to the pressing)

Also, I was just following the guide that Jayrob gave me, the video showed the back end of the AixiZ module being used as the press.

So would it be best just to remove the little saucer thingies, and pull off the spacer?

I left my spacer on for my build hope thats not a problem and I made my own diode press out of a metal rod from a printer I drilled a hole on one end and tapered it down a bit and it works like a charm :)

I just ended up sawing through the back of the aixiz module, removing the little solderballs on the tip, and taking off the plastic red spacer. Hopefully that's okay.

The LD should have been prepared by removing the residual
Solder blobs and PCB remnants on the LD pins... It would have
avoided your problems..

I removed the Red pin spacers so I could get closer to the LD
for connections.. The choice is yours...

Glad to hear you are not giving up... Good luck with your build..
Don't forget to show us your results...

All done.

Battery will be in tomorrow, so I'm just hoping to God that this thing actually works. I've got some good pictures that I'll upload when I get home.

This diode has been through alot, so hopefully it pulls through.
