I am looking for a pointer that can be turned on/off for a period of 30 mins.

you pretty much answered your question... just get a low power laser. a true 5mW pointer won't heat up too much in 30mins. What wavelength (color) were you looking for?

Yeah, pretty much any 5mW pointer will do just fine for what you need. I've had my WL Core on for a couple hours at a time with no issue, and DPSS greens are fed with high power IR diodes, so they generate the most heat out of the cheap 5mW pointers.

Colour doesn't matter and I dont need heat just a pointer. how do I buy such a unit?

You misunderstand; heat is the limiting factor of how long a laser can be turned on for. Any 5mW laser pointer should fit your needs, it isn't something special or hard to find, pretty much every reputable online seller (and even some nonreputable ones) sell 5mW pointers. Depending on where you live anything over 1mW may be illegal though.

Read the Reviews and Companies sections and see which brands/sellers people have had good experiences with, and find a seller.
