This is my first build using the Flexdrive. The upper voltage range is 5.5 volts and can be extended to 6.2 volts adding the diode at the voltage in.
My question is I plan to use 2 RCR123A Rechargeable Li-Ion batteries that will be over the 6.2 limit. Can I simply add another diode in series with the first in order to drop the voltage to a safe level?
If so, does this have any impact to the current draw settings?

My previous 4 Blu-Ray builds have all been using the Rkcstr drivers running at 9 volts.

Thank you in advance!

Doug, the best way to go would be to replace those 2 RCR123's with one 18650, or one RCR123 with a dummy/spacer to make it fit.

Silicon diodes have a forward voltage drop of about .6V-.7V each; you can put a couple in series to lower the voltage that your driver sees, but some efficiency is lost that way.

Current setting on that driver should stay the same, but I'd check it with a dummy load first to be sure.

Dang,

OK, thank you. I will do that and just forget using the diodes altogether.
