It's a vertical motion detector with a narrow (10 degree) viewing angle. It's designed to be placed over doors and only trip when someone is directly in front of the door...

im confused what do you use it for?
 
So wait....you put it in front of the door so the burglars may trip and hurt themselves? :D It makes sense that you need two of them....one to trip on , and one to hit your head on ;D
