Well, I ordered 3 ebay lasers to sell to my friends for slightly more. They finally arrived after 2 weeks of waiting with China shipping. I tested them. I tried one, it seemed like a green laser to me, as I have nothing to compare to. Then I tried the second one, it seemed dim and boring, I thought I already ran down my batteries. Then I tried the third one and it seemed the same as the second.
Now that I think of it, the first one seems as bright as my under spec 50mW ebay laser which has been dead since June.

I have not yet taken a picture of all 3 on at once to compare. But, I did make a youtube video of mostly showing off the beams, and a little comparison of the first and second.

Well, this is how its "gona" work, I keep the bright one, and sell the other 2 to my friends, as for my third friend, "one was defective and I have another on the way" So, Ill have to buy another one, but its worth keeping the bright one :yh:

Here is a link to my youtube video mostly of beams

When I order on Ebay I always try buy from a seller in the US such as Laser York or Wlaser. They always ship fast and Wlaser is really good about replacing a bad laser.

I ordered a green from Itemquickship and a violet from wlaser. Fast shipping from US, basically the same lasers from either one I think. The green is bright, makes a beam you can see at night - even with all the waste light in an urban.

The violet I just got, and don't really know how to judge it, other then well its... violet.

Gonna order a red from one or the other (as soon as I flog off some more of my junk on ebay).

I got 3 from the ebay seller "megaplace4u" mine were only $5.19
Same story as yours, 2 are probably about 5mW, one has a visible beam indoors with the lights on.
It's just luck of the draw but I think you should only charge more for the overspec lasers.
You might lose friends if they find out you are making money off of them.

@autoXX - wow his come with instructions manuals  maybe I'll order one of his just to compare. I'm sure I can sell off an extra to someone I know - charging a few bucks extra is just a fair vig for being better then your friends at finding cool stuff.

Ahh, I just got mine off ebay because they were only 5 bucks and im selling them any way. And cant be mad at an over spec laser :D

Ya, I was going to get them for 5.19, and 1 day later, the day I finally had money in paypal they raised the price to almost 6.00 dollars! sucks, but w/e

You should have put all 3 of those posts in 1 post. Multiposting is frowned upon and that is what the edit button is for.

Hey, don't knock the value of instruction manuals ^_^
People new to the hobby aren't going to know that green lasers are dpss pumping a case positive infrared diode and so the batteries need to be inserted positive away from the driver.
Actually I think the pens like this probably all come from the same factory in China. Seems like good odds to get a reasonably overspec laser though ;)

Has anyone else bought one of the violets. I'm not sure if mine is good or not. I understand the beam / dot will not be that bright, but the size of the dot seems like it expands too much. If I shine the laser at a building across the street (residential) the dot is about 6" and faint. It stops being visible after about 1/2 a city block.

The green I have, I can see the dot on a building 4-5 blocks away.

I have one of the violets as well, they are hard to focus on to start with and yeah, my divergence is about the same as yours.
