Anyone try this single mode low power diode for holography yet??? :undecided:

I haven't heard of it used, Holography is something that has always interested me, but right now I can't get a stable enough set up to mess around with it. Have you done any holography before? If so what do you use for stabilizing/isolation?

My house was on concrete block, and the closest road wasn't all that busy. I'd set up a transmission hologram exposure setup like this one: http://static.ddmcdn.com/gif/hologram-16.gif

and then wait for late at night to do exposures. Turned out fine, with mounts just sitting on a linoleum'd concrete floor. Set up everything and let laser temp stabilize for like, 10 minutes or so. Probably not necessary.

Would the film/plates be sensitive to 450nm, or are they sensitive to any visible light?

I have a nice green 532nm Compass laser, but looking to add blue and red to do panchromatic full color plates. Film and plates are available in a couple of places. Dyes sensitize them to different laser lines. Red, Green and full color available. Ultimate plates are expensive but have best angle of view and diffraction efficiency.

I live on the 23rd floor. I don't think I'm ever going to get it stable enough here. I'm moving in 6 months though so I will probably get into it soon enough.

Full color holograms... that's beautiful! You said that red, green, and full color are available, do they not have blue specific plates?

How do you get a long enough coherence length for holography from/using a diode laser?

T.
