So most laser companys are in the USA. Has anyone who has orderd had to pay import taxes.
Please state where you are and what the extra charge was.Maybe this can help other people.when ordering .
Or is their any other contrys to order from

Yea I was wondering about this too, because most laser company's ship using private couriers mostly UPS but sometimes USPS GXG and Fedex and this could be a problem as you can get charged through the roof.

I bought a leather coat once from Italy and it was shipped via UPS Express something, it was worth around 250 USD and I had to pay a shit load of taxes and other things like bond fees clearance fees, transfer fees, ect...

In the end I paid well over $ 100 worth of extra crap.

If you're talking about a Duty Tax, it's usually a different percentage for different things. A leather jacket would definately be hit hard, as would booze and jewelry; while other things don't get taxed at all, like books and pocket knives.

Some specific research is in order, especially if there's any difference between importing a finished product (laser pointer) or a component of a product (just the diode).

It would be more valuable to ask your local Customs authority as the tax rates vary from country to country, and product to product.

On orders from Novalasers I had to pay import tax and VAT (to the Netherlands)
Never paid tax on orders from DX .

I suppose it depends on what goes on the customs doket the company put on the parcel. Some companys have to put whats inside and how much it costs .In the uk you don't have to pay tax if the iteam is a gift or under £35 most companys have to put the amount you payed because there books have to balance
