Question about the 30 hour rule with businesses trying to avoid full-time regulations. How exactly does the 30 hour rule Work ?

Is it 30 average hours per year per month?

Does it matter if you go over 30 a couple of weeks randomly ? Ex 36 34 32 20 20 15 34- since this skill well average under 30 hours ?

I'm asking this because I want to work the most hours at my job but we are not allowed to go full time over 30 .

I basically want to know is it fine to go over 30 a bit knowing that some other weeks I will be on vacation which will bring my average way down

Thanks

I went ahead and moved your thread over to the "Other" section firelaser. Hope your question is answered soon :)

How will part time and seasonal employees effect the calculation for the 50 employee threshold?

First we must define who a full time employee is. A full-time employee is an employee who is employed on average at least 30 hours of service per week. The proposed regulations treat 130 hours of service in a calendar month as the monthly equivalent of 30 hours per week of service.

For an employee not paid on an hourly basis, employers are permitted to calculate hours of service by:
•Counting actual hours of service from the records of hours worked and hours for which payment was made or due; or
•Using a days-worked equivalency method under which an employee is credited with eight hours of service for each day with and hour of service; or
•Using a week-worked equivalency method under which an employee is credit with 40 hours of service per week for each week with an hour of service.

A simple google search will get you plenty of results.

1. Vote Trump into Office. 2. Trump Repeals Obamacare. 3. Everyone goes back to working 40+ hour work weeks. yay

Wow. A 30 hour work week for full time. I guess I work 2 jobs. I wasn't aware that obama care had such an impact. I only heard about how bad it was from my wife who works in the medical field and my favorite radio host. Is this guy pulling our leg? This can't be right. How do you get anything done in a 30 hr week?

So it seems that should be good as long as the overall average days below 30 then

There are PDF files you can open and read, just do a google search, also there could be changes, try a google search, the one I posted was dated 2013 ? , I am not an expert on it so make sure.

How do you get anything done in a 30 hr week?

It depends on your field of work. In scandinavia there are currently experiments with 30 hour work weeks (5 days of 6 hours) in the medical professions.

It appears that people can get just about as much work done in 6 hours than they can in 8, being less fatigued and such. This may sound like leftist nonsense, but if the figures actually prove it, it is something to consider.

I'd say it would apply most to work that is mentally intensive, perhaps medical, research, programming and such where you can only come up with so many ideas a day regardless of how long you are allowed to think about it. Obviously it would not apply to something like factory line work or other jobs where most of your time is spent phsysically active.

For things like office work there usually is a LOT of wasted time. It's not uncommon that the work an office worker does in 8 hours can be done in only 2 hours 'in the zone'. It is however impossible to work 8 hours that intensively.

The problem is we are currently mostly paying people of the amound of time they spend on doing something, not on real result. Chaning that is important. We should pay people for what they actually do in some cases, like "create a program that does this" for $1000, regardless if they complete that task in 2 or 100 hours. It doesn't really matter as you get what you wanted for the money you were willing to spend regardless.
