Nubee question

Greetings and Happy New Year!!!

I'm a nubee to lasers....much to learn. For starters, i want to design a multifunction device that has a laser pointer as one of its attributes. My question is, can I use a class 1 laser for office presentations? I need the safest/weakest classroom laser pointer avail....especially used around children. Dont care about the beam being visible. just want the dot to show up on the presentation screen.

You can get a <5mw red module from lasersman.com its safe for use as a pointer. Make sure you read the specs and don't overpower it.

The brand Radio Shack in quality is excellent and both are 5mW, not more not less.

Can I use coin (flat) batteries to power this laser? If so....how?

I'm sure you can, I used to have a 5mw red I think it took 3 or 4 button cells in series.

I got a laser/led key chain light.it runs on 3 button batteries. I've disassembled it to work on my first build.got some insight for$3. Worth the money to play.plus it was used for a month of fun with the kids beforehand.
I'm looking forward to building my first creation.and my mind is becoming more intrigued with the little bits of knowledge I'm gaining everyday.
