A long , long time ago
Man figured out coherent light,
An it still makes me smile,
An right now we have the chance,
Making laser shows in that people dance,
An maybe they'll be happy for a while,

But Nichia made some shiver,
With every projector 450 they delivered,
Enthusiasts collapsed on door steps,
Couldn't take one more step,
I can remember when some cried,
The day divergence died,
Something hurt the community deep inside,
They day the laser died,

So, bye-bye, oh coherent light,
Rode my bike to the radio shack, but it was closed,
An walmart don't sell lab grade regulated power supplies,
Singing "this'll be the day that I die, This"ll be the day that I die."

Did you write the book of lasing,
An do you have faith in dpss phasing,
If the magazines tells you so?
Now do you believe in focused coherent light,
That could save us all,
Radioactive free energy to power this big rock ball!

Well I know that you love these laser,
Some of you are hard for phasers,
But we all love coherent waves,
Man, I dig the greens and blues,
We were nerdy kids with xenon tubes,
Our flash bulbs were so crude,
But we ran out of luck,
The day the laser died,

I started singing, bye-bye oh coherent light,
Rode my bike to the radio shack,
But it was closed,
An walmart don't sell lab grade regulated power supply's,
Singing " this's be the day that I die, this'll be the day that I die."

Now for fifty years we we're on our own,
Crazy crystals and high powered flash tubes,
High voltage transformers, from some insane industrial use,
When suddenly the diode sector went huge,
Even university's couldn't refuse,
An every kid had a burning laser,

Oh, planes came crashing down,
Fbi swarming all over town,
All looking for a stupid tween,
Never ever to been seen,
As hobbyists we practiced in the park,
Turned our power supply's off in the dirges of the dark,
The day the lasers died,

I started singing, bye-bye oh coherent light,
Rode my bike to the radio shack,
But it was closed,
An walmart don't sell lab grade regulated power supply's,
Singing " this's be the day that I die, this'll be the day that I die."
