I got no hard evidence, but there's a crapload of circumstancial evidence behind my making this post. I'll let you look into it yourself though so I don't sound like another psycho conspiracy theory jerk  ;)
 
I've thought of this ever since NOVALasers was introduced in LPF by their representative. Although if you read their "About Us", you'll know that they branched off from one of the "major" Laser companies which I made my assumptions to be Laserglow even though I don't have any hard evidence as well.

Come to think of it, this is somewhat like The Simpsons and The Family Guy. Big fan of Family Guy, not the Simpsons. ::)
 
Well, to me it doesn't matter even if they were branched off from Wicked, or whatever - I think they provide good prices, and see the market as it is - ripe for the plucking ! They are doing a great job, IMO - all the accessories they sel really makes a big impression - that they have done a little bit of homework on what their customers want.
 
Doesn't matter to me either, I just find it interesting that Laserglow now has a... "illegal" side to them?

I gave NL a call today and talk to a very helpful customer service person who confirmed the ties between the two. Also, not relevant, but I found it interesting that they said the strongest laser in stock right now was a 105, and the strong lasers they test are ~130mW. To me, that either means prices will soon go up on the 125s, or they may be another DL who just send out sham 125 lasers.
 
Your views regarding a company you have never dealt with are disapointing at best, Psuedo. Until you receive an underpowered unit from them, do not even presume to pass judgement. I have heard nothing ill of them as of yet, and will continue to support them in their ventures, as they have behaved honorably towards everyone that has dealt with them this far.

Sorry, I think I may have come across too harshly. I was not saying that they will be like DL and send out crap lasers - I find that highly unlikely considering the way laseglow has maintained themselves in most regards. However I have seen numerous of CNIs highest spec lasers and I know how rare it is to get 125mW versions via NLs test methods - they themselves confirmed the rarity when I called them today. At the price point they have their lasers now, too many people will purchase 125s relative to lower powers ilke 85s.

What I was saying was basically what they could do to solve that problem. One is to raise prices, another is to send out underspec lasers, and I guess the third would be to keep customers waiting longer in longer, ad infinitum, as the waiting list indefinitely grows (not a viable solution).

My personal bet would be that they will be rasing prices on the higher power models and soon. So if there's any implication to be gleaned from my post, its that if you want a 125mW, order soon! They can't balance a price like that with their reputation for very long.
 
strange nova sells pgl III's up to 350mw!!!! :o laser glows 'aries' only goes up to 225mw..

i dont think there the same what would be the incentive??

Actually that was one of the reasons I felt they were the same before I had it confirmed. If you notice, the PGL-IIIs on nove pick up where the Aries leaves off on laserglow. The same is true with their other models. Novalasers sells almost all the other CNI portable lasers that Laserglow doesn't, and they don't sell any of the same products.
 
They still kick the crap out of wicked lasers my mate has a spider II and creams his pants when the Aries come out to play ;) Coz the Aries kick the GRANNY out of it bigtime ;D ;D ;D ;D

Yeah, but don't make me bring out the RPL! The older Spyder I actually seem pretty nice - could probably also whoop your Aries by a longshot. The Spyder IIs are, by comparison, horrible though IMO and I'm not at all surprised your Aries beats it.

I agree Carter but the old Spyder is dead now :( They were good lasers!!!!!! Not the Crap now man..... ) It's all gone pete tong (wrong)
 
Just to clarify a couple of points, straight from the horse’s mouth so to say (does anyone still use that expression??)...

NOVAlasers was started by an investor who previously worked for Laserglow. I worked for them too, actually, for quite some time and still work with them on a regular basis. We co-operate with each other and work closely together but we are separate corporations under separate management and direction. Laserglow could not cover the entire laser market and chose not to carry certain products. This opened up a section of the market for NOVA. Our co-operation with Laserglow is not a secret - when I first introduced our company on this forum I remember stating that we purchase our NOVA Series from Laserglow on an exclusive contract.

Regarding our X125 units and our pricing, I reiterate that we do not and will never ship underpowered lasers. We sell only what we actually have! As pseudonomen137 pointed out, 125mW average units are very rare. We do not plan on raising prices in the near future and have found that when we mark these models as out-of-stock on our website our customers choose the next output power model available.

We feel it is more important to ship a laser thoroughly tested, even if it is of a lower output power model, rather than just filling orders for 125s that aren’t actually outputting this power for any real length of time. In the end a customer is happier as their laser will be able to burn and cut and will be more visible than lasers labeled as higher output from other companies as they are getting an above spec 105 from us rather than a below spec 125 from someone else.

We came into the marketplace with customers expecting 125mW average from pen style 500mW IR diode lasers and we are finding that these units in production are actually quite rare. We're currently working on some projects that will level this uneven playing field and bring some tangible integrity to the laser market.
