Don't burn things so close.... You'll get smoke contamination on the lens inside the laser.
Way to read the topic, guy. The lens he has REQUIRES he do this, because that's where the focal point is.
The point of this is well taken. It is easy to contaminate a lens from burning too close. The laser should easily be able to light an unsharpeid match from about a foot away.... without the use of any additional lenses. I have an X105 so I know what they are capable of.

Its impossible to contaminate the laser lens because the collimating lens is sitting in front of the aperture. But the lens that will get contaminated is the collimating lens, not the actual laser lens. Even if some residue gets on the collimating lens, it shouldn't be anything a lens pen couldn't clean. Worst case scenario $2.50 lost, big deal right?

It most certainly should. But it doesn't.
