I just finally signed up on the forum, but I've been benefiting from this terrific community for some time by reading some of the great sticky posts and other discussions on here. The knowledge (and patience) of this community is impressive. If not for this site, it would have been very difficult for me to pursue this great hobby responsibly (which is the only way a sane person would pursue it). Indeed, it's even been a little frightening discovering how dangerous these devices are in the hands of ignorant or malicious users.
So, thanks LPF! I bought my first laser a week ago, an Optotronics 55mW (63mW) 532nm and it has been a lot of fun. I have several filters, diffraction gratings, and polarizers and am awaiting shipment of prisms.
