I've got a 5mw Chinese laser pointer that I removed the pumping crystal from to make it into an IR pointer.

I’m going to get a 1mw green laser and convert it, so it’s a bit safer than my 5mw one.

I want to wear laser goggles, but I need to know the Nm of the laser, so I can buy the right goggles.
the laser pointer I'd be converting would be 532nm in it's green form.

Thanks for any info.

Converting a true 5mW 532nm and a true 1mW 532nm into an IR pointer won't make it much safer. The IR pumping is till going to be many times over the safe limit, generally ~5mW.

The 532nm process is as follows:
808nm(pump diode)->1064nm->532nm

Just to clarify because you may be misunderstood - the safe limit is 5mW. The IR pump is potentially capable of several hundred mW at 808nm.
