Just bought this: www(DOT)dealextreme(DOT)com/details.dx/sku.10095

Powered by this: www(DOT)partsexpress(DOT)com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=120-025

What precautions should I take? Will there be any IR?

thanks a lot for the link posting bro. if the wavelength is like 655 nm, will 650nm goggles work? and will using that 6v adapter cause a problem with the 5v module?

Most goggles cover a range of wavelengths. ;) Be careful using the 6v adapter. I would power it on and check it for overheating.

ok. its got a big heatsink around it, so i dont think overheating will be a problem...even with the pot increasing i plan on doing. and will a 4.5v adapter work with it?

oh, and just to make sure, this will easily burn and light matches since its 100mW, right?

I meant to check the power supply that comes with the laser for overheating. ;)

Properly focused it should easily light a match, although you may have to be somewhat close.

Try both adapters and again, check the circuit for overheating components.

more specificly, watch the 3 power transisters and the 2 power diodes, with mine, they tend to get warm with just 5 nimh batteries.

One last thing. Whats operating current for this supposed to be? And to the above poster, I have some goggles coming in some sort of set from NovaLasers that was out of stock for Christmas. My mom doesn't remember which one she ordered, so I have to see if those goggles will be good or not.
