New LD Laser and dips question

I just got the LD SC-500 and the manual is very non-informitive; 4 pages long, in broken chinese to English. My question is, can I change the dip settings while the laser is in operation? I did search for the answer before posting, so please don't bash me, its my first non-pen pointer laser.

Yes, to answer my ow question about the SC-500. Didn't get any answers, so I took a chance and flipped the jumpers while in operation.
