new guy needs help

ive been reading a bunch of this stuff and its been confusing, im just lookin for a few simple answers, is it possible to take the dvd burner diode in my computer a T6410 Emachines (that i never use) stick it in an (axis housing?) and the whole thing in a flashlight (carved out for it to fit) and soder it accordingly... would this be efficient enough so it would burn say matches but at the same time wouldnt be too much and destroy the diode with batteries as the source of power?

You need to make a circuit so you don't kill your diode, you can learn how to make one here:

Oh, and just in case you don't want to take appart your dvd burner, you can buy a diode pre-installed in an aixiz housing from here:

No it wouldn't unless your flashlight already has a proper driver.If not ,you would have to make your own driver.Look in the experiments and modifications section of this forum for more info.It's most likely that any question you might have has already been answered there.
