rectangular is normal for high power blue diodes.

A photo of the laser would be needed to determine if it is maybe focusable if taken apart but you will not get rid of the rectangle just make it smaller

Please make a Welcome post in the Welcome sub-forum and indicate your location in your profile if you expect help by LPF members

Ronin1306 are you 18 years old or older and do you have laser safety glasses that attenuate the wavelength that you are working with?

I would highly suggest that you introduce
yourself the the Forum Members in the
Welcome section. Tell us a little about
your Laser experiences....

It would also be helpful to members if you
included your Global location in your Profile.,
This way members can more easily steer you
in the proper direction for parts.:)

As others have said, a rectangular beam is normal with these diodes. They can be improved to an extent, but that requires some expertise and some additional optics added onto the end of your laser.

Please post some pictures of the laser and introduce yourself in the welcome section.
