Hey LPF,

Obviously registered here not too long ago, was just lurking around at first trying to do as much research as I could (using the search function too, :P) about building my own laser. I was considering just buying one from O-like or Lazerer, but decided against it, was very set on building my own for my first laser in... years. Haven't had a pointer since I was like 9.

But anyway, enough background, to the question.

I was wondering if I was missing anything serious from what I've bought so far. I'm planning on making a 100mW 405nm in an Aurora C6 host.

Aurora C6 Laser Engraved *host only* [C6HOST] - $14.99 : Cajunlasers Store

C6 Black Anodized Heat Sink only [C6HSBLK] - $12.99 : Cajunlasers Store

PHR-805T 405nm laser diode [805T] - $10.99 : Cajunlasers Store w/ pressing and mounting.

GhostDrive2 : Current set at 119mA

Coated Glass Lens for Blue Laser 405nm, 445nm, 473nm

and finally... 2 RCR123a 880mAh 3.6V protected Ultrafires. Also miscellaneous 26 AWG silicone wiring, etc.

I was hoping someone could clarify if there was anything missing or anything that conflicts.

Thanks for reading, :)

soldering iron, solder. thermal adhesive/paste.
and most importantly, SAFETY GLASSES!

depends if the heatsink is press fit or loose inside the host, if its loose then you will need thermal adhesive, if its press fit, its still a good idea to splash on some thermal paste inbetween, as for the driver, i dont think it will need much heatsinking at that mA, but you can cover it in paste, however, make sure the paste you use is in no way capactive or conductive of electricity, as that will ruin the driver.
