need help

i need help building a psu for my 808nm ir diode. its a 1watt and running at 1amp. i want to make it portable useing d or c cells or some other typ of batteries

I used 8 nimh 2000mah AA's on mine, with the lm317 and around 1 ohm 5watt resistor... before I replaced the diode with the 2 watt version.
Just make sure you heat sink the lm317.

I used one of those 9v clips too, it just barely can carry 1.3 amps, I ended up useing a 12v gell cell when I went to the 2w diode. best way is to solder the nimh cells togather, get the kind with solder tabs.

where are you guys finding these diodes? i keep searching ebay and im not coming up with anything

check out snoctony/snoclaser. They sell cheap but effective Chinese 808nm c blocks with preinstalled FAC lens (well, effective enough if burning is your only goal - probably wouldn't want to trust one in a good DPSS setup though).
