Hey everyone,

I have a bit of an issue, I am trying to remove this diode from this driver and can't seem to remove all the solder and I am worried about heating up the diode too much.. Any suggestion's? As pictured I have a solder sucker and some solder wick but I just can't seem to get it all out. And there isn't enough left of the pin's to snip them.. There is barely enough left on the pins in the first place!!

Thanks in advance fella's! :yh:

Is that epoxy or thermal adhesive I see between the driver and housing?

You did good at removing most of the solder but there is some still inside the two holes. You're gonna have to take your time on this one. You have to get the solder to melt and slowly pry the board off of the pin little by little and pin by pin. Do one pin first and the next to even it out until it's completely free. Also let the driver cool in between as well to prevent further damage.

I edited my first post with instructions. Remember take your time and you can do it ;)

thats what I have been doing.. I just didn't want to kill the diode with heat.

Also, here's a couple of more clear photo's

Yeah I can still see some solder on the bottom holes. You almost got it. In your last pic you should bring your iron on the spots until the solder melts then lift the board up very carefully. Do you have flux?

Put some on the area. Should help transfer the heat better. It'll get messy but nothing a little isopropyl won't clean up ;)
