I pulled a laser out of an old laser star projector I got my kid in Hong Kong in back in 2009.
Looked around this site for any info but nothing on this guy.
It is stupid bright (clearly visible beam with the lights on), that's why I want to figure our how to make it a portable pointer with this thing.
I know I could probably just buy something for less than I'll burn on this project, but what is the fun in that?
Front of laser 18mm dia, heat-fins 30mm dia, 61mm long, kind of big.
label specs: max 50mW power , model#HLM1845, wavelength 655nm
measured specs powered on: 1.9 volts across the laser pins, 266 mA current
Cant find any info on the web, found this very cool site and thought I would see if I could learn me somethin'
The silly power supply for the original projector is big, requires 12v, and turns the
laser on and off to a sequence or to the mic input, so I cant use it.
Need some help / education on heading that direction.
I want to use a 2 cell (7.4v) or 3 cell (11.1v) RC lipo pack with a buck converter similar to what is used for common hand held laser pointer builds.
Thanks in advance to any advice or help!!
