Need help driving 505nm diode

Hi guys,
I came across a driver in my inventory I forgot I even had.
And I also have a 505nm diode that's been sitting in my collection for 5 years unused.
Will this driver work with 505nm diodes?

That odic-force driver is only good for up to 5V output, for a sharp 505nm laser diode you need 7.5V @ 150ma or overdriven up to 250ma so although that driver could supply the current, the voltage is too low.

This will work.

Ok. So I’ve had three people (one off site) tell me that it is ok. But one not. Will these diodes not run at all at 5v. I’m keeping the current low in order to avoid wavelength shift. I’m probably going to aim for 20-30mW output.

Just try it. If the driver can’t produce more than 5V, the diode will just not work.

bluray run at 6.5V
your green diode run both 6V-6.5V like same bluray, current is about 100-200mA
your driver which you ask can up to 300mA ( too enough for your 505nm diode)
pls see datasheet of 505 diode, volt, current together at this video

I have a sharp 505 running @ 250ma with a G8 lens and it makes a beautiful emerald green beam on a dark night that reaches out into the distance nice and tight the way a laser beam should, be aware that these are often case positive diodes.

I have also powered these 505 diodes with an lm317 ( configured as a current regulator ) using a 5 ohm resistor to set @ 250ma and 3 x li cells in series such as 3 x 16340 or 3 x 18350 to maintain needed voltage.

Note: Reading back if you want 20-30ma then use a 50 ohm resistor to set a lm317 @ 25ma
