This is a rare 975nm IR pump diode.
I don't want to destroy it.
The Vf is 2.5v (max)
the If is 700ma (max)
I'd love to drive it around ~500ma.
I'm thinking of limiting a stable meanwell 5v source to 2.5v using an adjustable voltage regulator, set physically to 2.5v
I'd like to take that 2.5v and feed it into a constant current driver.
Any idea of an ebay/aliexpress driver that can limit the output current to 400-600ma, while remaining stable with an input voltage of <3v?
Or should I forgo the Vreg stage, and just use a standard adjustable 980nm (3-5v) IR driver, and set it to around 500ma, and use a lower voltage supply, perhaps 2.5-3v.
FINAL QUESTION: how important is it that VCC matches Vf, even if the driver is current limiting? I've only ever used batteries and drivers to make lasers, never bench supplies, aha.
Thoughts?
