I have a dedicated 4x6 canon photo printer I was thinking of using in a similar fashion but wasn't sure how to make it stick. I could probably use Photoshop to make a file with several labels in one file so I'm not wasting paper.

i had some of these laying around
250 Silver Foil Laser 4" x 2" Blank Sheet Labels | eBay

just printed one of these labels on one of those and cut the label to size, they say only prints black but i think mine looks nice even printed in colour. I used a laser printer to print on the foil labels.

EDIT: Although it looks good in colour there is a huge quality difference between printing the label black or in colour... infact I think regular high gloss photo paper actually looks better but the downfall is attaching them to the laser.

EDIT2: Before I get flammed I know this is an old topic. I thought it deserved a bump as it looks highly professional on any custom built laser.

agreed (re: bump necropost); it's a useful enough topic.

I intend to use it when my first hi-power laser arrives soon. It's a "Gatlin", though, weird shape, but MAYBE I can put a small warning label on the front of the focus ring, near the aperture. Or I could just print a big one and put it on the box.

Just a little nitpick - a system of power < 500mW is class IIIb, not class IV.

If it were = 500mW or > 500mW then it is class IV.

Other than that it's a neat tool.

Good catch, I'll fix it when I get a chance!
