Hey, I am new and almost clueless about lasers, good start?
I have just got a batch of 650nm 5mW 5v 6mm diode/module thingies from ebay, 50pcs 5v 6mm 650nm dot Laser Dot Diode Module Head Red | eBay that I can use and abuse before I spend the same amount on a single diode.
If I am right, I need a 5v driver that can run 650nm @ 5mW (and a test load is invaluable, just because) and I will need a host to put it all in.. probably an altoids tin to start lol!
Any advice would be great, but I do have a question or two:
can i get a 5v driver running at 650nm @50mW, connect 10 lasers in parralel and have them work from the one driver?
Can I "overclock" a diode by increasing heat dissapation, i.e. the above are rated at 3-5mW, but with proper cooling could I get them to run at maybe 7-10mW?
And if i can run 10 from a 50mA driver, and use a big enough host could I use a collimating lens to converge all of the beams onto one?
Thanks and ps. I have looked and am still looking through the forum :undecided:
