I finally decided to build my first laser. Here are the specs:

PHR-803T
Aixis housing
FlexDrive set to 150mA
Cree Silver Ultrafire body
Dark Horse heatsink
Dark Horse apeture cap

I have a pair of OEM laser systems safety glasses on the way. I'm going to be keeping the indoor use to a minimal til I get them.

mind if i ask why u decided to run at 150mA ?

good work :) ill be starting my first blu-ray laser build soon, gonna make two .. one at 130mA on an 803t diode, and one at higher (undecided) on a 4x diode

I ran 150mA because I've read that 120mA is safe and I wanted to push it a bit.

I know that lasers run off of current and not voltage, so does this mean voltage doesn't matter at all? I haven't tried yet, but I should be able to burn with this laser right? The battery is about 3.7v

Also, Any tips on getting the beam to focus more? I think the dot is still pretty big and I want it to be a smaller dot.

humz 150 mA is pushing it

wel voltage does mather the diodes needs atleast 5 volts with 100 -130 mA to run at full power.
but the voltage deliverd to the diode wil drop automaticly when setting the current lower.

Does that mean running at 150mA with only 3.7v results in a weak beam? What if I bumped the voltage up to 5 to 5.5?

no the flexdrive is a dc to dc converter so it can step up the voltage to  5 volts even if its just running on 3.7 volts
