I just finished my first red laser!, it's burning pretty well.
i made it out of a 5w MXDL flashlight, a rckstr driver, an Aixiz module with a glass lens, one of those new red diode's from senkat's shop (windowless SLD1239JL-54),
2x cr123a batteries and a heatsink from those DX lab lasers.

i didn't want to buy a heatsink from jarob because i already had a heatsink from a previous laser from DX.
i can't create my own heatsinks etc. and i have a friend named superglue so i just sticked it on the front ring of the flashlight,it looks primitive!

has anyone an idea how much this would be in mW? (Windowless SLD1239JL-54 @ 350mA)

holy moly! i would say buy a heat sink from jay and make her a little more portable and compact!

and here is drlavas diode round up (i added the grid for a little easier reading

Hi :) . I have measure the power of this diode with a Coherent LaserCheck.
At 347mA the output of my diode is 197mW with glass lens; good power.

Nice first project, very original design.
It should stay cool enough for a little power increase. ;)

the massive heatsink is only because i didn't have the money to buy a nice fitting heatsink, but it is my first so the next
one will get a nice small heatsink.
maybe my next laser will be a blue/violet laser, i just patiently wait for my wages to come in.

if the batteries are empy in combat,I'll just smash their brains out!
