The truth is, I really don't care and just want Wes to post a link (although I have been looking for a good cr123 host). Plus, I agree with Razako here. But, as it seems, he has no knowledge of how to build his own lasers so parts are no good to him. I think $35 is a bit steep, maybe for a used functioning red diy, but not one that requires a re-build.
Truthfully Wes, I think you should probably consider why/what/where and how you start threads. This should be in buy/sell/trade section. That way cOLD doesn't have to keep moving these threads to keep the forum organized. More importantly, you should be thinking about your future. ;D No, seriously, what do you plan on doing for the rest of your life? If your interests in lasers are genuine, then you should be self-motivated to learn basic electronics (series, parallel, soldering, etc.). If I were you, I would have tore that sucker apart and replaced the diode, after of coarse first talking to the seller about why he sold me a bunk unit (unless I damaged it), but I don't buy - I build. Seriously though, I think every person should have a basic understanding of electronics. I have been soldering since I was 10. There is nothing more gratifying then building your own laser (building the actual diode may be considered "advanced electronics" ;D ) or understanding that you can take on other little electronic projects.
Most of my wasted money I've spent has nothing physical to show for it except for knowledge. And that's priceless. :'( <--- happy tears.
Seriously though, don't be afraid! You can do it! Replace the diode! All you need is a little patience, a good soldering iron, some solder and some pliers a steady hand, (like the one you need to burn a match) and it should be simple. I never failed. Extracting them can be a bitch, but usually not.
At least, find out what exactly is wrong with your unit so people know exactly what their buying. Nobody want's a "maybe".
Good bye - Ace
