I want a low power Green 10- 15 milliwatt that uses torch or flashlight style and with rechargeable batteries and clicky switch and IR filter.

It occurred to me that maybe I could get TWO cheap units and send BOTH to one of you MOD wizards and you could MOD one for me and install IR filter and keep the second one.

I can get these pretty cheap but have NO idea of the power or IR filter etc.

The idea is to get a unit with low power to use indoors that's metered so I KNOW it's only 10 -15 mw etc. and don't have to use goggles.

Is this a good idea?

If you dont want to use goggles when you use it then it must be less that 5mW !

actually he doesn't have to use goggle if hes not burning and is just being careful and takes the proper precautions

the mod is as simple as turning down the current going into the module by modifying the stock driver and gluing on your ir filter:beer:

Well - I may even go down to 5 mw as long as the beam is visible at night.

Pointers for astronomy use are often 5-10 mw and don't require goggles.

But I need a PRO to do the mods and measure the actual output.

Thanks.

The more I read the more I'm leaning toward a 5 mw ONLY measured power output with an IR filter- should still be pretty bright.
