mirrors, gratings and the glass sphere

These pics were taken over the span of four nights. I set up four long mirrors in a square, and two more long ones flat on the table and kept adjusting the angles to direct the beams into other mirrors. I started with two 532nms and two transmission fan diffraction gratings. Eventually I added more colors without the gratings, then my glass sphere and at the end I used a reflective fan diffraction grating. With the glass sphere ones, on some of them , I was able to get some of the nicest patterns I have even gotten using the sphere. The best part for me is everything is still set up and I will continue this week with shooting two rainbows in a reflective matrix grating and see where that takes me.

Your right Bruce, those are some awesome looking patterns in the sphere photos, especially like the way the 589/593.5? looks in pic #11!

That is a 589 in #11. By raising the camera up and down at very small intervals you can control the amount of bend you get in the sphere.

Yes these were all taken in my new room. When we decided (I mean the wife decided!) to sell our house and buy a new one, one of her main selling points to me was you can have a permanent room for your lasers. So when we looked at least 25 different homes, I would always look for my future area. In the house we did buy, the laser room used to be a LEGO room. When we first saw the house, in this room there were boxes and boxes of LEGO products. The person was really into that hobby hardcore. Now it is the Laser Room. I also put in two Philips Hue BP30 lights in there since it the room already had two recessed light fixtures, and can change the colors of the lights in the room to any color.
Something to experiment with in the future. All the BS of moving and lawyers now was totally worth it.

In my upstairs "old" dining room, one wall in 100% mirrored. I will be taking some shots up there hopefully later in the week with other mirrors and goodies that have the potential to be totally crazy! When we enlarge our kitchen the mirrors will be coming down but probably after Xmas so I have some time. But trust me, these could and will be my wildest pics to date (I hope)

After your last set of photos, I believe someone asked you about your big glass sphere,where you got it, etc.
So, I went on Amazon and bought one also. Glad it was one of their "Prime" deals, free two day shipping. You were right. It must weigh 15 lbs as you said. Glad it came with free shipping. LOL

Hey Davidx,
That's great you got yourself a glass sphere too. It is my favorite object to photograph. Did you see the warning on the box about leaving it direct sunlight? It will act as a magnifying glass. In some of my past laser shots using it you can see how it focuses the beams on the way out of the glass. Good luck with it and don't drop it on your foot!

If anyone else spends the time and effort required, and knows how to use a camera correctly, they can get these kind of shots too
