Hello,
Below are some pictures of my new mini blu-ray laser. This build consists of a 15X50mm module, PHR-805T, Flexdrive, RS mini switch, Aixiz module (cut for thread and switch housing), 1 X 10440 battery, and 3 pieces of K & S brass tube (#137, #138, #139).
Similar to my last 532 pen build, I used 3 sizes of brass tubing from a local hardware store. I drilled out the back of the 15X50mm module to allow me to JB Weld the smaller (#137 tube) inside for a nice solid fit, then used the #138 and #139 sections staggered over one another to give me the 12mm clearence for the 12mm access module for threading the switch.
The build is really small (3-3/4") and with the way I created the modular front section, I can now swap for other wavelengths (660nm 250mw, 445nm 500mw, etc) by just screwing on pre-built modules. I set this 405nm to 140ma, so I estimate I should be getting around 100mw +/-10. Still no LPM, but it burns paper and lights matches really fast.
This was my first time using the 15X50mm module. They are really nice and very good heat sink. Reminds me of the old Buck Rogers ray guns. I like the screw fitting for the diode mount, but since the head is so large, the lens sits way back inside the front of the housing making it hard to focus on the fly. I had to make a small set key to use to turn the lens.
Flexdrive = $25, Diode = $10, Other parts: ~ $10, Satisfaction of making something cool and having it work = priceless.
