The second vid is crazy. Just imagine if you were on the receiving end of that thing! Looks like the boat going by got a pretty close up shot of the laser.
 
I've seen this posted atleast 2 times here, but who cares now the new members who haven't seen the old threads may also find these vids :)

just dragging up the explanation from the old thread: the laser is highly divergent so by the time it gets there the spot size would be huge
