Medical he-ne

Bought a surplus medical device for measuring powders parts per millions or something like that. Anyways it does have a uniphase he-ne model # 196-3-2481 not sure the color. Also supposed to have a beam expander in it. Remove that and shined my green 5mw through it. it spreads too wide i think.Kinda cones the beam huge. Anybody else removed these? Know what color it is?:thinking:

You RED my mind..j/k....there's a start. Any uses for that type of beam expander or maybe just keep it around for experimenting?

Yeah I'm spending a little time on Sams to do a little more learning. Going to try some reds though.... Thanx

As far as I know, and after researching a little, Uniphase never produced a green He-Ne with the prefix numbers "196", all are 632.8 (red)

Fired it up and it's the Red..... then used the ps on the yellow/orange he-ne they tell me is rare. It works but I get a static buzzing sound. Red is around 1.25"x11" and yellow/orange is around 1.75"x15". So the 1700v ps is from the red and 1500v is from the yellow/orange and no longer working.
