What do you guys think that I should run my diode at?
This is going to be a labby. The diode is properly heatsinked and fan cooled.
I think about 315mA. Go or no-go?

Thanks, /me

*the search sucks*

Re: Max current for 16x diode heatsinked, fan coole

Regardless of how well it's cooled, too much current is still gonna be bad for your diode. And 315mA might very well be too much for a 16x if you're expecting long life too. :-/

Re: Max current for 16x diode heatsinked, fan coole

It depends on which kind of 16x it is. If it's one of the older, then 315mA may be to much. I'm not sure. :-/

However, if it's one of the new windowless ones from Stonetek, then 315mA should probably be fine. :)

while your on the topic, whats the max for 20-22X open can diodes?

I think 250mA is getting close to the max, maybe your additional cooling may allow some more..........300mA?

420mA is safe, 430mA + should have a heat sink, a few trailblazers have taken them to 480mA + :o

As switch mentioned, it's no longer contingent upon heat dissipation after a certain point, but rather the intensity at the end facets.

I ran a 16x diode at 355ma no heatsinks
