advantage of this circuit is it's easy to build from easy to find parts, and very reliable. the disadvantage is the ddl circuit requires ~9 volts to drive a 405nm diode. if you want a more elaborate regulator which works off lower voltages (to allow one cell pointer designs) you best bet is the 'flex' drive, which used to be for sale here. ??
