I usually say that a 5mW green (like the Lyra-C5) will have a "faintly visible beam" in the night sky. It is there, and you can see it, but it's not the "3 mile long lightsaber" effect that you get with a high powered laser like an Aries or Hercules. Works great as a star-pointer, though, and you don't have to be too concerned about blasting your eyes out.

Enjoy your laser!

The LeadLights are the best for 5mw, and that is what they tried to compete with; there is a review around here somewhere that has both the leadlight & the core torn apart, LeadLight wins hands down.
This is very true, those leadlights had huge crystal sets compared to the core! There are more efficient and battery life was much better in my leadlights than in my newwish pointers. I'm pretty sure it was pseudo who posted that thread around a year ago.
