I'm a newbee.

Has anyone tried this board yet? Would anything need to be added to run a 16X dvd diode well?

Any help would be appreicated

You mean the ones on e-bay? They are voltage regulators..for lasers we use current regulators.

See I was thinking if the volts are limited or regulated as the item claims the watts are set at what the load is or diode watt. The amps should fall into place.

No?

No. What happens as the laser diode heats up it will draw more current if using a voltage regulator. Using a current regulator, the current will stay the same no matter what the temp. of the diode is.

Ok I understand - diode is not a set load= like a lightbulb more like a motor< failing motor.

I have an electrical background.

Thanks

Actually the chip is good; my drivers use the TLV1117 which is probably the same thing different manufacturer.
