Hi

I'm wanting to test the laser i bought from O-Like as to whether it is 200mw as it came with no test sheet or info guaranteeing that it is 200mw.

I am in the UK & in a city & was wondering what shops may have a LPM that could test my laser or if anyone out there could help!

Cheers

Im not in Sheffield, but if you paid postage I could organise it.

I don't remember seeing any members from Sheffield here, but I may be wrong.

I guess i'm prob just wondering if anyone knows of any 'known' shops that carry power meters for various reasons!
Not necessarily to test the lasers that we use, but could be used for that!

There may be a secondary school or university which has a power meter and will allow you to use it.
Try calling the engineering college at the nearest university. They tend to be nice to anyone who shows genuine interest.

Hi & thanks

I emailed my local University & what i assumed was the relevant department & was forwarded to a guy who i think was a Dr in electrical engineering. He questioned me a bit & invited me to his office where he tested my laser. He also wondered why i had such a thing as he had a 10mw green on his desk that he said was too powerful for using to shine on boards in lecturing theaters.
I said i used it to point to rock climbing edges in the day & i needed a powerful one!
He told me i shouldn't have it etc etc & not to use it outdoors!! Thought he was going to report me ffs!
Anyway, PowerRock 200mw fom O-like seemed to peak at 190, but he didn't give me a chart! I think it got more powerful the longer it was on & initially less powerful.

Probably good you didnt try to have an LPF made laser measured...Imagine what he would have said to +2 W !!;)
