lpc 815 dead?

hi i just got my lpc 815 diode in a housing from modwerx (came with preslodered leads onto the diode). i set my driver to 363 ma (not much as i have heard people running at 420ma+) and attached my laser. instantly only a faint amount of laser light came out (comparable to a 5mw). i also noticed it was highly unfocused. after a minute the module was fairly hot, like a high power laser normally is. is my laser diode dead or has it not been put into the module right, causing it to be unfocused but still cause heat within the module? it causes a fair amount of heat which makes me think it is working but there is barely any laser light coming from it.
thank you.

First off... what driver are you using...secondly what batteries are you using?

Did you make sure all solder connections are shiny and strong? Did you discharge the capacitor on the driver before soldering on the diode? is your switch between the laser and the driver or between the batteries and the driver? When you turn the laser on does it seem to start off bright then turn dim?

We need a bit more info before we or I can make definite claims...

ok dont worry, it turns out that the switch was broken, it would let the laser shine for 1 second then shut off. took me awhile to realise after going through every connection and even changing laser modulkes on the driver lol :yabbmad::yabbmad::yabbmad:works great now, a lot different to focus than blurays, thats why i thought it wasnt put in properly :undecided:. sorry about that, thanks heaps anyway bobhaha for ur help!

Maybe some one else will do a search for this problem and this thread will be there to help them.
If someone told you it might be a problem with the switch, you would have saved some time, right?

 for your LD not being fried!:)
