Hi LPF,

I'm looking for a mirror galvanometer, one which would be suitable for directing a green beam to a new direction on every beat. Yeah I know, going to have to do a lot of EE for that but it's not THAT terrible.

Willing to trade tritium lamps for one!

Wow Jerry, that's a really amazing idea! Although I guess there's no way to do x + y with this using two mirrors?

I hope you don't mind me posting Grenadier, I am hoping to learn how to use galvonometers at some point as a project if I can make it that far to learn all the things I would need.

Don't know if this is quite related but at 2:00 it shows a keyboard playing musical notes which adjust the frequency of the galvos. I wonder if the maker of this video is someone from LPF?

I'd like beam redirection, not Lissajous figures!

I suppose it would help to know the maximum speed and
maximum angle of deflection that you want to redirect
your Laser's beam into a single axis straight beam.

Will this require to do an oscillation type scan or just redirect
the beam to a fixed or random point at a chosen time.
I understand that you said "beat". Was that a musical beat ??

It would also help to know the purpose of the redirection of
the Laser's beam.

Yes, musical beat. Essentially what I need is a relatively low speed X-Y galvo, one capable of the 'liquid sky' effect, laser harp effect, etc. I have a 1.5W green laser, and until I find a galvo it's just going to sit on the shelf!

For liquid sky effect alone. You could just use a line generating lense.
Or a scanner from an old printer.
1.5watts can injure please be careful.

If you decide to sell the lasersendme apm.

How about building your own Galvo since you seen to
need only one..
I found this article doing a 10 second Google search...

ELM - Home Built Laser Projector

For only a Liquid Sky effect you can use a Polygon Mirror....
