I'm taking a summer class at my university right now. Aside from college students, there is a large group of children from the Summer Institute for the Gifted (SIG) that live in an adjacent building. (I live in one of several buildings in a large complex.) Anyways, I was playing with my laser in the courtyard in the center of the complex several days ago and some SIG kids noticed it. Now they're calling me "laser kid" and stuff like that. ;D

Anyways, there's a dance today, and I guess that's another chance for me to show off my geekiness. :P

Yeah, I have some young kids in my neighborhood, too. Always when it's dark outside and they are playing outdoors, they ask me to show off my laser. :D They are most impressed by my x-85, because it's the brightest one. They also like that it can burn. Some kiddies had a party outdoors some weeks ago, with balloons of course. And you can probably imagine what I did to the balloons! They really thought it was cool.

"laserkid"? haha, sounds a lil similar to my situation. My parents call me laserguy all the time, and that's the background to my username. :)
 
lol i keep lasers in their cases when we have girls over, or if im going out to the bars. For some reason, its cool to guys, but girls just dont feel it.

except for this cute geeky girl that i do a mentoring program with.. she had a glow-in-the-dark bracelet on and i was lighting her up... she was diggin it.
 
Well, I brought my laser to the dance. In fact, I saved a fresh set of AAA batteries just for this occasion! ;D

The cool thing was that I met a guy who also had a green laser! Although his laser was only 5 mW, it was still awesome meeting a fellow laser enthusiast. (One of my suitemates used to have a "Phoenix" from Wicked Lasers, but he later sold it.)

I did run into a small "incident" with the laser, though. I let one of my suitemates use my laser, and he kept pointing it into windows. While he did take care not to point it at occupied rooms, I didn't think it was a good idea because someone could walk in at the wrong moment. Fortunately, he agreed to stop pointing it at windows.

My girlfriend loves to play with my dilda laser and do match lights etc etc :D

I wish I had a laserguy name :( Hahaha.
 
My ex hated my lasers, she once tried to tell me that her friend modded 5mW greenie so it could cut glass, and I was like yeah im sure he did, I mean most pointers can cut through glass, even though 95% of the frickin light goes through, and you would need a good number of watts to cut glass
 
she actually said that before we were going out, probably trying to impress me ::) it takes more than that to impress me ( you need to actually show the thing doing it, or just get gooeys argon laser and let me play with that, I will be satisfied either way )

Off-topic: I seem to have just accidentally on purpose burnt out the CCD on my phone camera ;D
 
a lot worse, haha.

background story:
upon receiving my dilda laser I decided that, due to the lack of use it receives, my phone camera could be tested quickly to see if the CCD would burn... after flashing the camera, the dilda did no damage, which made me distraught; how could this thing with intense heat not burn my camera?!
So, in short, I decided that Id burn it one way or another, and I may have held it focused at point blank for about 20 seconds ;D
its now just a white and (mostly) black screen when I use the camera (its been about 40 minutes since I burnt it)
