what type of corrective optics are needed to turn a multi mode line into a single mode dot or something close to that
If you look closely, you can see that the dot is still a square. It might be less of a retardofck line, but it's still not round.
Short of some very expensive mode correction optics, you're not going to be able to get a round beam ( a 'dot') out of them.
Both anamorphic prisms and cylindrical lenses are for fast axis correction. Their effect is to make the fast axis diverge at a similar rate to the slow axis.
