Yep Dave... you have contributed to my wanting to 'push' the current on this thing! 
But you have pushed these diodes to 170mA's correct?
I just did a 2 minute test to check stability and temperature at this 145mA setting. Because there is not much heatsinking with only the Meredith module and leadlight case...
It was completely stable the full 2 minutes with no fluctuation in power. The temperature of the outer case, closest to the LD, only got 1/2 a degree warmer!
